Marine Coexistence by Design

Amigo LNG is pioneering a new global standard for responsible LNG marine operation, one designed from the outset to protect whales and promote safe coexistence in Sea of Cortez. Our approach combines smaller LNG carriers under 178,000 m³, lower vessel speeds, quieter modern propulsion, reduced emissions, and advanced monitoring technologies to avoid the use of ultra-large “Middle East–style” LNG ships and minimize disturbance to marine life.

Unlike conventional LNG marine programs, Amigo LNG is developing an integrated whale-protection system that brings together trained visual observers, AI-enabled onboard detection, thermal imaging, AIS/ECDIS navigation overlays, real-time acoustic monitoring, and remote Passive Acoustic Monitoring buoys. These systems are designed to detect whale presence early, support route adjustments, trigger speed reductions, and create verifiable compliance records throughout vessel transit. The program also prioritizes modern DFDE, ME-GI, and X-DF LNG carriers, which operate more quietly and efficiently than older steam-turbine vessels, helping reduce underwater noise, vibration, and emissions. In fact, no older steam-turbine LNG ships are permitted to berth at Amigo LNG terminal, ensuring full compliance beyond IMO requirements.

By embedding environmental protection directly into navigation, vessel selection, speed management, and operational decision-making, Amigo LNG is not simply following best practices—we are working to create the world’s most advanced and stringent LNG marine-protection framework. Our goal is to demonstrate that LNG development and whale conservation can coexist through innovation, discipline, transparency, and globally pioneering environmental stewardship.

Our Commitment to Guaymas

UTG Scholarships

UTG Scholarships

Amigo LNG partnered with Universidad Technológica de Guaymas (UTG) to award fully funded scholarships to five outstanding students in recognition of their academic excellence and dedication.

Castaway Kids Partnership

Castaway Kids Partnership

As part of our ongoing partnership with Castaway Kids Mexico and its Adelante Estudiante program, AMIGO LNG is proud to sponsor the education of multiple students across the Guaymas community.

ITG Children's Day

ITG Children's Day

Amigo LNG collaborated with Instituto Tecnológico de Guaymas and Ciudad del Refugio Community Centre to bring smiles to children from low-income families through the donation of handcrafted wooden toys, accompanied by traditional Mexican treats for the children to enjoy.

MOUs with ITSON, ITG, & UTG

MOUs with ITSON, ITG, & UTG

In January 2026, AMIGO LNG signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with 3 respected academic institutions in Guaymas: Instituto Tecnologico de Guaymas (ITG), Universidad Tecnologica de Guaymas (UTG), and Instituto Tecnologico de Sonora (ITSON). They represent our commitment to building a strong local talent pipeline; from structured internship programs and technical training initiatives, to full-time, future-ready employment opportunities.

CRRIFS Collaboration

CRRIFS Collaboration

As part of our commitment to environmental stewardship and marine wildlife protection, Amigo LNG is working closely with CRRIFS A.C. This cooperation will directly support the expansion and enhancement of their Sea Turtle Conservation Program, helping to safeguard these vital marine species and their habitats.
